Welcome to Hairball TT. By using our services or accessing our website, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Scope of Services

Hairball TT specializes in the repair, overhaul, and cosmetic restoration of Technics 1200 turntables and select analog DJ mixers. All work is performed at our Labs in Chicago and Los Angeles by appointment only. Services include (but are not limited to):

Internal repair and component replacement
Tonearm rewiring and calibration
Cosmetic refinishing
Cable replacements
Cleaning and inspection

We reserve the right to refuse service on equipment we do not support or that we deem irreparable or unsafe to work on.

2. Estimates and Work Authorization

After receiving your equipment, we will provide a preliminary estimate for the necessary repairs.

No work will begin without your explicit approval.
If we uncover additional issues during the repair process, we will notify you and seek your approval before proceeding.
Estimates are valid for 10 business days from the date of issue.

3. Turnaround Time

Turnaround times vary based on workload, parts availability, and service complexity. Typical estimates range from [X] to [Y] weeks, but may change without notice. We do not guarantee completion by a specific date unless a Rush Service Agreement is made in writing.

4. Payment Terms

Payment is due in full upon completion of work and prior to pick-up or shipment.
We accept cash, major credit cards, and digital payment methods (subject to availability).
A 50% deposit may be required on extensive restoration projects or custom modifications.

5. Abandoned Equipment

We request that all completed items be picked up or arrangements made within 30 days of job completion.

Items left for more than 60 days without communication may be considered abandoned and may be sold, recycled, or used for parts to recover storage costs.

6. Shipping and Handling

If you are not local to our Chicago or Los Angeles Labs:

You are responsible for shipping your gear to us, properly packaged and insured.
Hairball TT is not liable for damage or loss during inbound or outbound shipping.
Return shipping is available for an additional fee. Rates depend on weight, size, distance, and insurance coverage.

7. Warranty and Limitations

All repairs are tested before return. We stand behind our workmanship and offer a 30-day service warranty on labor performed, starting from the date of pick-up or shipment.
This warranty does not cover:

Damage caused by misuse, improper installation, shipping mishandling, or third-party repairs.
Cosmetic finishes or wear-and-tear unless otherwise stated in writing.
Issues unrelated to the repair work completed.

8. Customer-Supplied Parts or Modifications

If you request the use of non-factory or customer-supplied parts:

We are not responsible for part failure, compatibility issues, or performance problems related to those parts.
All third-party parts are installed as-is and void any workmanship warranty on that component.

9. Liability

While we take every precaution to protect your equipment, Hairball TT is not liable for:

Any pre-existing damage or undetected faults
Loss of data, music, or stored settings
Consequential damages resulting from equipment malfunction post-repair

Clients are strongly encouraged to photograph their equipment prior to shipment or drop-off and to maintain insurance coverage on valuable gear.

10. Privacy & Communications

We value your privacy. Any personal information collected through our website or email communications will only be used for internal purposes (e.g., scheduling, billing, or updates). We do not share your information with third parties without consent.

11. Changes to These Terms

Hairball TT reserves the right to update or modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on our website and are effective immediately upon publication.
